Abhibyakti announces Bengali Audio Drama 'Shaheb Bibi Golaam'

Bengali literary organisation Abhibyakti’ founded by Ranjana LIe112)a, has been active in the audio drama scene since 1986 and has announced the live it’s„shriacilLrrnance of the audio drama (srutinatok) adaptation of Bimal Mitra’s classic novel neb Golaam”, to be staged on 7th April 2018 at Rabindra Sadan auditorium.

The novel tells the story of the sumptuous lifestyle the story of Pateshwari aka Chhoto Bou, a woman and the decay of a feudal family. It is who wants to experience romance, to be a real wife, to invent for herself and live a new kind of conjugality. Written & directed by playwright Smt. Ranjana Bhanja, this is going to be the first audio format performance of the novel in the country. Key performers of the audio theatre include Film, TV & Radio personalities like Jagonnath Basu, Shankar Chakraborty, Alok Roy Ghotok, Ranjana Bhanja, Satinath Mukhopadhyay, Debashish Basu, Sankar Roychowdhury, Soumitro Basu, Kajal Sur, Arindam Basu, Sumana Bhaduri, Sarbari Mukherjee. Other performers include Chandan Majumder, Mamata Chatterjee, Maitreyi Roy, Debmalya Banerjee, Sudipta Chaudhury, Hiralal Si’ & Prosenjit Ghosh. Theme music has been composed & directed by Utsav Bhanja. Background score has been directed by Santana Bandyopadhyay. The event is being co-organised by Jackson Records Digital Entertainment at ac , who ro would also release the live recording of the play after the event, in digital forss pope popular music streaming apps and websites like Amazon Prime Music, Saavn, YouTube, iTunes, etc. Followers of theatre, literature & poetry have been keen to watch this story develop on the stage since it’s first Bengali movie adaptation in 1956 starring Uttam Kumar, Sumitra Devi Chhabi Biswas. In 1962, the Hindi version of the film was released starring Meena Kumari, Rehman and Guru Dutt, which also was a blockbuster., After 56 years, Shaheb Bibi Golaam is awaiting the epic comeback with this event, in a Whole new format – audio drama or Srutinatok as it is known.
