Association of Architects Builders Interior Designers (ABID) Kolkata brings Interiors 2018 to the ‘City of Joy’ commencing from February 23rd to February 27th, 2018, timing 10am – 7pm to be held at the Science City,Kolkata. It is a fair which highlights the products and services of the Interiors & Furniture industry. The most coveted and sought-after brands will be seen displaying and demonstrating their products spread over 150 stalls with 80 exhibitors. This is spread over four hangers and is the largest of its kind in Eastern India. The exhibition was sponsored by Kajaria, Hettich, Stellar, Nitco, Fenesta and Everest.
ABID, a pioneer organization in home and interior designing industry, has been a trendsetter in terms of various aspects exploring new opportunities to exchange ideas and information to create awareness amongst public regarding human habitat and way of living.
The fair was launched by Chief Guest Pandit Bickram Ghosh, Guest of Honour Actress Swastika Mukherjee and Director Arindam Sil. Singer Iman Chakraborty, Singer Lagnajita Chakraborty and Director/Producer Satrajit Sen also graced the occasion.
The fair showcased a unique space which was provided to sculptors to exhibit their pieces and live sculpture making under the guidance of eminent sculptor Chandan Das. The sculptors present were from the Government College of Art & Craft and Indian College of Art and Craftsmanship.
ABID Kolkata is also signing a MOU to start an ‘Undergraduate Interior Designing Program’ for the very first time in Eastern India from the next Academic Session with Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad University of Technology. Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad University of Technology is the biggest university in West Bengal, having jurisdiction over the entire State, affiliated to more than 200 colleges, with over 2,50,000 students. They are striving under the able leadership of their new Vice Chancellor Mr. Saikat Maitra to be the best in the region offering global learning experience to its students. The first affiliated college where the proposed Interior Design course would be starting is at iLEAD, Kolkata.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-President of ABID, Kolkata, Mr. Anand Gupta said, “We are very proud to sign an MOU with Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad University of Technology to initiate a course on Interior Design. This stands as a milestonein the long history of achievement of our organization ABID Kolkata. We look forwardto nurture this relationship with our knowledge partner and Academics mentor MAKAUT with high expectation and aspiration”.
ABID Kolkata also announced the formation of Sankalp – a social initiative taken by ABID along with renowned architect Mr. Vivek Rathore and other prominent people of Kolkata to promote, profess and practice sustainability for the industry and society in the wake of improving our environment.
For the first time ever, ABID launched its very own ‘Theme Song’ sung by Iman Chakraborty. The music was rendered by Pandit Bickram Ghosh, lyrics by Sugata Guha, programming by Broto Deb & Sayan Ganguly, Flute by Susruta Goswami, recording, mixing & making by Samik Guha Roy from Bickram Ghosh Studios.
