“Basu Poribar” the much awaited film by Suman Ghosh is all set to hit the silver screen on 5th of April. The film stars Soumitra Chatterjee and Aparna Sen duo after nearly two decades. Along with the two maestros the film boasts a robust starcast of Lily Chakrabarti, Paran Bandopadhay, Kaushik Sen, Rituparna Sengupta, Sashwata Chatterjee, Sudipta Chakrabarti, Jisshu Sengupta and debutante Sreenanda Shankar.
Mr. & Mrs. Basu who lives in Kolkata, went on to celebrate their 50th Marriage Anniversary at their ancestral zamindar home at Midnapore. Their son and daughter-in-law has flown down from the US, their daughter from Bombay and other close relatives have also gathered to join the celebration. As the evening progressed through a cake cutting ceremony, various incidents among the characters throw light to the line of breakage and the contrast as well as comparisons in the relationships of the characters celebrating the evening. The film ends with an interesting twist which unravels the quantum of life, relationships and the progress of time in one’s life which is faced with a new light at the end.
After “Nobel Chor”, “Peace Haven” and “Kadambari”, Suman Ghosh has come up with “Basu Poribar” which is all set to create a mark in the minds of the audience not only with its robust starcast but also with the treatment and making of this family saga.
