By Rehan :- After being the table toppers for nearly a week, the Knights undergoes two losses on the trot. The ‘Men in Purple’ were viciously mauled by CSK in their previous match and this time again in their home territory. The Knight’s were surely scanning for vengeance after what transpired at their last rendezvous in Delhi. However, the raw team of Delhi dismissed Kolkata to that.
Shikhar Dhawan goes completely out as he smacks 97 runs off 63 balls. KKR’s skipper Dinesh Kartik, however, seemed hopeless when he lost the toss. He certainly wasn’t thrilled about losing the toss but most importantly he was very unhappy to have lost two of their fundamental players in every match, Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn.
The Knights had a very obscure start as they lose their first wicket in the very first ball, all thanks to Ishant Sharma. KKR seemed clueless from the opening as this is the first time they were missing out their star players. Although Shubman Gill played a phenomenal knock of 65 off 39 balls. His shots were elegant and well built. Muscle Russell seemed off tonight.
The fans certainly didn’t get the taste of the Russel they were expecting. Although Russell managed to get 45 runs that too in 25 balls, that didn’t seem to do much as Morris gets good riddance of him in the early 18th over.
KKR set a target of 179 which wasn’t at all good at a pitch like Eden and KKR’s truest nightmare became reality when Dhawan started to go all out on the Knights bowlers. Perhaps, some more wickets could have checked it from happening there but KKR seemed to have lost their track as they only managed to pull off 3 wickets which certainly isn’t enough. Especially when defending a total like 178.
KKR unquestionably has lost path and they need to order out their weak links if they are to put up the game they are expected to. Meanwhile, Delhi is playing radiantly and keeps on surprising and impressing at the same time.
