Kolkata Boy Conquers London by Winning The Prestigious British Chinese Food Award

 Celebrity chef of UK, Mr. Steven Lee recently won the prestigious British Chinese Food Award for Best Fusion Restaurant in London, UK for his own venture Hakkaland.

Mr. Steven Lee who was born and brought up in Kolkata, went to the United Kingdom 17 years back and started the concept of Indo-Chinese cuisine in the UK.  Being from Tangra, he is a pioneer in popularizing the unique taste and flavours of this special cuisine which was previously unknown in London. About a year back, he started his own venture, Hakkaland, which specializes in ‘Kolkata Chinese’.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Steven Lee said, “It is a matter of great pride and honour for me that I have been bestowed with this award. It is a win for Kolkata because the award has been given for my city’s unique cuisine. I endeavour to make this cuisine popular worldwide. I dream of doing something for my city as well and I plan to start an outlet of Hakkaland at Kolkata in the near future.”

Adapting Chinese cooking techniques to Indian flavours and tastes, Chef Lee draws on the vibrant culinary culture of India and China and use the classic Chinese wok to produce fantastic dishes that would leave one craving for more.

A few delectable dishes from Chef Lee’s kitchen include Crispy Okra, Kolkata Chili Chicken, Manchurian Chicken, Sapo Chicken, Teppay Chicken Sizzler, Ocean Delight, Soya wine Chilli, Lamb / Beef Feemein Noodle, American Chopseuy, Schezwan Chopseuy, Teppan Soba and more with great variety. Chef Lee’s restaurant Hakkaland stands to be one of the all-time favorites of famous Indian Cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, who frequently visits it whenever he is in the UK. Rated as the top Indo Chinese Restaurant in Harrow Area by Trip Advisor, Hakkaland has also been featured as one of the popular Indo-Chinese Fine Dining Restaurant by the Harrow Town Center.
