Narayana Multispeciality Hospital Spreads Awareness about Women and Child Health through Self-Help Groups

 In its continued efforts to advance comprehensive and robust clinical care and create awareness about women and child healthcare among the people of Hooghly and its adjoining areas, Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Howrah organized an awareness activity on Women and Child Health in association with the women from Self-Help Group, under Krishnarampur Co-operative, Hooghly. The session on Women’s Health in Modern Life was headed by Dr. Subhas Mukherjee, Consultant – Gynaecology & Obstetrics, and session on Child Immunization was headed by Dr. Sujoy Chakravarty, Consultant – Paediatrics, Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Howrah.

The purpose of the activity was to create awareness among the women so that they can spread the message to their neighbourhood about the importance of good health.These women from Self-Help Group visit door to door in their remote areas for multiple healthcare or other necessary purposes. They interact with people from different geographies including rural areas who are not fully aware of women and child healthcare. With the mission to deliver high quality and affordable healthcare services and provide exclusive services in Hooghly, the session guided the people about the concerns of healthcare and immunization. Around 36 women from Self-Help Group, Krishnarampur Zone, participated in the session.

Dr. Subhas Mukherjee, Consultant – Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Howrah said “There’s a cause of concern regarding women healthcare in the state, mainly in rural areas. Awareness sessions are needed regularly.”

Dr. Sujoy Chakravarty, Consultant – Paediatrics, Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Howrah, said, “It is seen that child healthcare is still in its infancy state mainly in rural areas. With the support of Self-Help Group, we would be able to create awareness about overall well-being of children.”

Mr. Sourabh Kanti Mandal-Unit Headsaid, “We are committed towards the betterment of healthcare in Hooghly region. We feel that as a healthcare professional, it is our responsibility to encourage women to be aware of their health. It is equally important to create awareness about good health and overall well-being of the society.”
