By Staff Reporter:- The 41st International Kolkata Book Fair is now on the verge of its inauguration on the 25 January 2017 and all the micro events are now slowly falling in place before the mega events start. International Kolkata Book Fair 2017 will start from 25 January and continue till 5 February 2017 and the inauguration will take place on 25th January 2017 at 5:30 pm at Milan Mela in the presence of Costa Rican author Ms. Roxana Pinto Lopez and Hon’ble Chief Minister Smt. Mamata Banerjee. The following are the highlights of this year’s International Kolkata Book Fair 1 There will be 600 stalls and 200 Little Magazines. 2. The five halls of the Fair having mainly the English publications have been named Mahasweta Debi, Syed Samsul Hague, Neil Aloysius O’Brien, Umberto Eco and Father Detienne. 3. There is a 360-degree change in the layout plan of this Book Fair. Small regional publishers have been allowed ready to use stalls in a prime location at a very subsidized rate inside A C hangers. These halls have been named after Sister Nivedita, Dinesh Chandra Chattopadhyay and Samar Sen. 4. For book lovers, free Shuttle Bus Service from Park Circus to Milan Mela and back during the fair days. 5. Wi fi zone for the authors, guests and media friends. 6. A special medical assistance service with ambulance and well-equipped doctors, Courtesy Amri Hospital. 7. International Kolkata Book Fair 2017 android mobile app to locate any stall in the fair, created by CESC. 8. The website of International Kolkata Book Fair will provide all information of Book Fair and will be interactive in nature, and it is integrated with Facebook and Twitter – courtesy Kolkata Bloggers. 9. A special cab service by OLA-Joyride partner. 10. In the International Kolkata Book Fair 2017, there will be the presence of eminent authors from 8 different countries. 11. For the first time, eminent Russian author Mr. Maxim Amelin will participate at the Book Fair. Major events of the International Kolkata Book Fair 2016 1. The 41st International Kolkata Book Fair has conceptualized a unique event called the Booklovers’ Cafe. Students from different schools will participate in extempore, Art Workshop, Creative Writing and Literary Quiz to be organized on 27, 28, 30 It 31 January 2017 at the Fairground. 2. 27 January will be the Costa Rican Day. On that day, Asoke Sarkar Memorial Lecture by Mr. Jose Leon Sanchez on 27 January 2017 at 6 pm. 3. Kolkata Literature Festival from 2 to 4 January 2017. 4. Bangladesh Day will be celebrated on 5 February 2017. Other major events and highlights will be announced in our curtain raiser Press Conference. We are especially indebted to CESC for their unlimited cooperation towards making the 41st International Kolkata Book Fair a more interesting and more e-friendly event. There will be a CESC Corner for eminent guests of Book Fair like last year which will be grandly decorated. The daily lottery will be held from there, where CESC will distribute Book Gift Coupon worth Rs 10,000/- per day to the lucky winners. A special ‘CESC Literary Sahitya Samman’ will be awarded this year to the senior and eminent poet of Bengal, Shri Nirendranath Chakraborty.
