By Mahiyan Chakrabarti:- TATA Steel Kolkata 25K (TSK 25K) is the only IAAF accredited 25K in the world. This annual event has not only sparked a running movement in the East of India but also ignited a passion in the mind of the City of Joy which has opened its heart to raise funds to help that section of the society who needs it the most. With the help of the new Philanthropy Partner India Cares Foundation, the 2018 edition of the event has raised INR 65.35 lakhs in funds which is a 27% increase over the last year. The Corporate Companies utilised this platform to provide an opportunity for its employees to engage with the CSR mission of the company while promoting health and fitness. 12 companies fielded 345 employees running for various causes and contributed INR 27.35 lakh.
Apart from this, 559 individuals contributed INR 36 lakh which gives a boost of 58% for the first time in the history of the event. Cumulatively, TSK25K has now raised over INR 3 crores since its inception in 2014. This year India Cares Foundation worked with 36 Civil Society Organisations (CSO/NGO), 12 Corporates 36 individuals and 3 runner groups to help raise funds for various causes including Education, Human Rights, Disability, Women Empowerment, Health and Environmental Conservation. Vivek Singh, Jt. MD., Procam International, the promoter of the event placed his gratitude to the Eastern Command, the State Authorities, Event Sponsors, Fund Raisers and every Donors who did their very best in this special effort and promised to keep providing a world class running experience. Oberoi Grand, Event’s Hospitality partner opened its corridors to showcase the paintings of over 25 acclaimed artists including Wasim Kapoor, Debashish Mullick Chowdhury, Anjan Bhattacharya, Vani Chawla, Subla Verma, Rintu Roy Chowdhury, Usha Ranjan Mondal, Pranab Roy, Madhumita, Bappa Halder and Nabanita Guha from which INR 2.06 lakh was raised through the sale of six paintings which went on to help strengthen the participating CSOs.
