#Chennai: Within days of the election, a Congress candidate from Tamil Nadu (Tamil Nadu Election 2021) died of coronavirus. He contested the state assembly elections from the Srivilliputhur assembly constituency. The Congress candidate, PSW Madhava Rao, died at a local hospital on Sunday. He contracted the coronavirus last month. He was also known to have some comorbidity.
Since he died after the election, there will be no new election. If he wins the seat, the by-elections will be held in that constituency, the Election Commission said.

Sanjay Dutt, acting president of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, tweeted condolences on the death of the Congress leader. “I am deeply saddened by the death of Madhav Rao, a Congress candidate from Srivilliputhur Assembly constituency and a Congress leader from Tamil Nadu,” he wrote. He had no coronation. ‘
At the same time, he added, “Congress is deeply sympathetic to Madhavrao’s family.” Elections were held on April 8 in 234 constituencies in 36 districts of Tamil Nadu. The results of the May 2 election will be announced.
