P.C. Chandra Garden and VIEWPOINT today jointly organised a musical evening, titled ”Poila Porob”, to celebrate the upcoming Polio Baishaki) (Bengali New Year), at The Tulip hall of P.C. Chandra Garden, Kolkata, As the world continues its fight with tho Could- 19 Pandemic, P.C. Chandra Gordon could organize this cultural promotion event at its premises after a long gap of more than one year. The programme started with a minute’s silence in memory of those people who have lost their lives duo to the Pandemic, especially the front-hne people like Doctors. Nurses, Hospital Staff. Police, etc. Arko Mukherjee Collective : Sri Arko Mukherjee is an Indian Classical Singer and an Urban Folk Musician from Kolkata. He sings folk songs in various languages to blues, souls and several tribal music forms from different parts of the world. He researches on the root of folk and contemporary music by travelling around the Globe. Arko Mukherjee has sung in different films and was awarded a “Gandharva Samman” by the Gandarva Community of Batulichor of Nepal. In this particular presentation, his songs will be accompanied by dance and recitation featuring Jayraj and Srabonti. The Kolkata Collective : The Kolkata Collective is a new age band which deals with folks of different regions and languages as well as Bengali folk songs. It contains the eternal Kabir Songs with a pinch of modernity and rhythm. Some very attractive originals and some melodious old Bengali Band Songs make The Kolkata Collective a complete kaleidoscope. They have already performed in different cultural events like Kalyani Cultural Meet, Manushmela, Bochor Choy Fakiramoy, Bandmela and many more. The band has Subhadeep Saha as bassist, Rand Das as drummer, Surnan Choudhury as keyboardist, Plabon Kartee in mandolin, Mithun Paul in guitar and Subhamoy Dey Sarkar as vocalist.
VIEWPOINT is a video production house which also deals with sports events and cultural round ups. P.C. Chandra Garden is a breath-taking property in the heart of the city with pure lush green environment. It used to be the dump yard for the city’s solid wastes back till mid-90s. The P.C. Chandra Group painstakingly converted it into a patch of green heaven.
