#Kolkata: Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee’s campaign has been banned by the Election Commission. Allegedly, Mamata is violating the code of conduct by making offensive remarks during the election campaign. The ban will continue from 8pm today, April 12, to 8pm tomorrow, Tuesday. As a result, the Trinamool leader will not be able to take part in the election campaign during this period. Trinamool leaders and activists have reacted strongly to this incident.
Derek and Bryan have repeatedly criticized the Election Commission. In a tweet, Derek wrote, “This is a black day in our democracy.” In another tweet, Derek wrote,
Trinamool candidate from Baranagar assembly constituency Tapash Roy has questioned the role of the Election Commission. He says, “People will give a worthy answer. The commission does not find provocation in the statements of Dilip Ghosh, Rahul Sinha, Sayantan Basu. This shows that the commission is biased.”
Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, “BJP leaders are constantly persuading. Mamata Banerjee is being silenced to protest.” Trinamool MP Firhad Hakim tweeted, “The Election Commission has banned the campaign of Hon’ble Chief Minister in the next 24 hours. Today is the black day of our democracy. They can issue a ban. But they cannot remove Mamata Banerjee from the minds of the people.”
Yashwant Sinha also tweeted, “There has always been doubt about the impartiality of the commission. But the pretense was made public today. It is clear that the commission is acting on the instructions of Modi and Shah. Democracy has been compromised today. What more can we hope for now?” ? “
