#Kolkata: Coronavirus is setting new records every day. The whole country was in turmoil in the second wave of Corona. The daily infection has gone up to over one and a half lakh. The worst situation in the country is in Maharashtra. But our state is not behind. The infection is spreading like wildfire during the election season. The number of daily infections is now about 5,000.

Even in this situation, political meetings, meetings, processions, gatherings, marches, processions, election campaigns, public relations … nothing stops. If you look at the election activities in this state, no one will say that the common man is scared by the spread of the deadly virus. In such a case, the Calcutta High Court has made masks and sanitizers mandatory at any election-related gathering in the wake of a public interest litigation.

A man named Nitish Debnath had filed a public interest litigation seeking court intervention to stop the spread of corona in the state in the election situation. In the wake of that case, a division bench of Chief Justice TBN Radhakrishnan and Justice Arijit Banerjee directed that the district magistrate and the commission should take responsibility to stop the crowd. Section 144 can be used if necessary. One should try to maintain social distance as much as possible. The court also ordered to avoid large gatherings. Besides, we have to run a campaign with Corona. Political leaders need to warn the public. Besides, the police have been directed to keep a close watch on the security rules to be strictly followed.
