#Kolkata: A few days ago, Shankha Ghosh, before the grief of his departure was overcome, the shadow of mourning was again in the literary world of Bengal. The late Anish Deb. Anish Babu was infected with Corona. He died at 8.18 am on Wednesday. He was 80 years old at the time of his death. His physical condition has been deteriorating since he was attacked by Corona. He was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata. He had to be kept on ventilation. Plasma donors were needed. But nothing was gained. Anish Dev said goodbye.

His death marked the end of a chapter in Bengali literature. Adrish Vardhan and Anish Dev were one of the big names in Bengali literature in the world of science fiction. Adrish died last year. Anish Dev also passed away on this day. The shadow of mourning on his death is in the literary circles of Bengal.

Anish Dev was born in 1951 in Calcutta. Anish Dev started writing at the age of seventeen. His first article was published in 1987 in the now defunct monthly ‘Rahasya’. Since then, his writings have been published in various Bengali and English newspapers in West Bengal. The main subjects of his writings are detective-mystery, thriller, ghost-miracle and science fiction. Apart from story books, he has also written several books on adolescent science in Bengali. He also has some English books on practical physics. He was also engaged in editing various anthologies. Has edited Kishore Bismoy for some time.

According to Anishbabu’s family sources, the veteran writer had been ill for some time. He was admitted to the hospital due to cardiac arrest. That’s where his corona was caught. Anishbabu was given ventilation as his condition gradually deteriorated. But he breathed his last on Wednesday morning. In 2019, the West Bengal government honored Anish Dev with the ‘Vidyasagar Award’ for his contribution to adolescent literature. He has also received honors like Prachin Kalakendra Sahitya Puraskar and Dr. Gyan Chandra Ghosh Puraskar.
