Mamata’s trust from the Buddha’s affection, this time Ritubrata will ask questions on behalf of the workers

Kolkata: There was a time when there was a stir with his change of party. But once the leftist leader Ritabrata Banerjee thought that Mamata Banerjee was the real leftist, not his old party. On Saturday, the Trinamool leader appointed him as the state president of the Trinamool Congress workers’ organization INTTUC. Ritubrata thanked the team leader as soon as he took on the new responsibility.

Ritubrata has been associated with left politics for more than two decades. He was also the All India General Secretary of SFI, the student wing of the CPM, for eight consecutive years. He became a Rajya Sabha MP due to the affection of former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee. But the split with the party in 2016 and the grassroots closeness since then. And this time in an important position like the state president of the party’s workers’ organization.

Speaking about the party leader as soon as he got the new responsibility, Ritubrata said, ‘I think Mamata Banerjee is the real leftist. Because whatever Mamata Banerjee has done for the unorganized workers, the work was supposed to be done by the Left. Incidentally, since joining the grassroots, Ritubrata has been working in the party organization as well as in the workers’ organization for the last one year. He was also working in the tea gardens of North Bengal.

Speaking about himself, Ritubrata said that what this government is doing for the tea garden workers is unimaginable. 2 lakh 64 thousand quarters of 393 square feet are being constructed for tea workers. In 2011, the daily wage of tea workers was 6 rupees, now it has increased to 202 rupees.

However, according to grassroots sources, the former CPM MP got the responsibility mainly with the support of Abhishek Banerjee and Prashant Kishore. And that is why Mamata Banerjee herself is relying on Ritubrata.
