India vs Afghanistan 2026 T20: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially announced that Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Harshit Rana has been ruled out of upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan and the Asian Games 2026 campaign in Japan as wellThe selectors have named Vidarbha and Lucknow Super Giants pacer Yash Thakur as replacement in both of these campaigns.

But there was good news for Shreyas Iyer’s Team India as the trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy have been cleared both Afghanistan series as well as the Asian Games after recovering from injuries.

“The men’s Selection Committee has named Yash Thakur as a replacement for Harshit Rana in India’s squads for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan and the 2026 Asian GamesThe fast bowler was progressing well during his rehab at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE)He sustained a rectus femoris strain while bowling during a match simulation on September 7 and has subsequently been ruled out,” a BCCI statement read.
