Iran-US -Israel war: In a big development amid the raging Iran-US-Israel conflict, Modi government has taken a firm stance on Iran-US conflict where it has offers condolences on death of Iran Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the cleric and former Supreme Leader of Iran who was killed by the US forces on February 28, 2026. In the recent development, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has signed the condolence book.

As per media reports, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, on behalf of Government of India, signed the Condolence Book at the Embassy of Iran in New Delhi today, and offered condolences to the slain Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Who was Ayatollah Ali Khamenei?

Ali Khamenei, the 86-year-old former Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran who had ruled the country since 1989, was killed in a joint military operation carried out by the United States and Israel in the early hours of Saturday. The move by Vikram Misri came as part of India’s first official response to the Supreme Leader’s death. Notably, Iran Supreme leader Khamenei’s compound was attacked with 30 missiles, killing 40 commanders, including his daughter-in-law and other family members in the recent attack.

In another significant development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed support for every effort made to end the ongoing conflict in West Asia and Ukraine, a report by IANS news agency said.

“Today, the world is going through a period of instability and uncertainty. From Ukraine to West Asia, conflict continues in many parts of the world. We are unanimous that military conflict alone cannot resolve any issue. Whether in Ukraine or West Asia, we will continue to support every effort for a speedy end to the conflict and peace”, PM Modi said about the war in Middle east.

Condolence book in memory of late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

In a related development, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh visited the embassy in New Delhi to sign a condolence book in memory of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, a report by ANI agency said.
