Diljit Dosanjh is preparing to bring his live performance to Delhi on October 30, but fans attending the show may notice tighter security and changes to traffic movement around the venueWith thousands of people expected at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, authorities are working on arrangements to manage the crowd and keep the surrounding roads from getting congestedThe preparations include a larger private security team, changes to vehicle access and additional parking facilitiesThe arrangements have gained attention after the concert faced an initial hurdle over security concerns before permission was granted following discussions with the organisers.
Diljit Dosanjh’s Delhi concert to have around 2,000 security guards
According to a report by Indian Express, Delhi Police recommended deploying between 1,500 and 2,000 private security guards for the concertThis is considerably higher than the 400 guards initially proposed by the organisersThe expanded deployment is intended to help manage the expected turnout at the stadium, which has a capacity of around 55,000 people.
The security plan aims to ensure smoother entry and exit for concertgoers while helping authorities respond to crowd-management challengesOrganisers are also expected to coordinate with relevant agencies to make arrangements for people arriving by private vehicles, taxis and other modes of transport.
Traffic restrictions and pedestrian-only zone near JLN Stadium
Traffic management is another major part of the preparationsAuthorities are planning to restrict vehicle movement within a radius of approximately 500 to 700 metres around the venueUnder the proposed arrangement, this stretch would operate as a pedestrian-only zone, with vehicle access limited to authorised traffic and vehicles carrying the artiste.
Additional parking facilities are also being planned to reduce congestion near the stadiumOrganisers have reportedly been asked to coordinate with cab aggregators and navigation platforms so that passengers can be guided towards suitable pick-up and drop-off pointsConcertgoers should check official traffic advisories before leaving for the venue.
Why was permission for the concert initially withheld?
The October 30 show faced an initial delay after Delhi Police withheld permission, citing security-related inputs and the additional law-and-order responsibilities during the festive seasonFollowing discussions and the submission of a revised security plan, permission was subsequently granted.
Organisers are also considering extending the performance ramp so that Diljit can get closer to fans and interact with them during the showHowever, the proposal is subject to final security clearance and should not be treated as confirmed.
