One is always conscious about the ways the person looks. The deeply rooted societal beauty standards often has forced people to look a certain. But in the contemporary generation, it is all about embracing one self. The terms of beauty have evolved and become more subjective. Everyone has their own definition of beauty and a self-perception of their individual body shape. Several celebrities looks have changed over the years. Many admit, while some remain a speculation if or not they have undergone the knife. Botox, filler, face lifts etc are common cosmetic procedures that several models, actors, undergo. However, proper information is essential as neglected and low grade treatments can be fatal. One of the rapidly increasing procedure is the Brazilian Butt Lift or BBL

Recently a 26-year-old British lady succumbed to death after undergoing this procedure. Demi Agoglia, from Salford, had travelled to Turkey for the procedure in January after seeing social media adverts for BBL procedure in Istanbul. The 26-year-old died in a hospital in Istanbul on 8 January three days after the operation.

This is more common abroad where several models, influencers opt for BBL. Combining liposuction with fat grafting, the BBL aims to create a more youthful and curvaceous silhouette.

About BBL – It starts with  consultation where the surgeon assesses the patient’s health, discusses goals, and determines the best approach. The first step involves removing excess fat from areas of the body such as the abdomen, thighs, or flanks. This is done using liposuction technique The purified fat is strategically injected

As with any surgical procedure, there are risks such as infection, bleeding, and anesthesia complications. One of the most serious risks associated with BBL is fat embolism, where fat enters the bloodstream and blocks blood vessels, which can be life-threatening.

What Happened to Demi Agoglia?

On Wednesday, Bolton Coroner John Pollard found that Ms Agoglia died from a microscopic fat embolism. The Brazilian Butt Lift is a sought-after procedure for those looking to enhance their buttocks while contouring other areas of the body. With its combination of liposuction and fat grafting, it offers natural-looking results and a dual benefit of body sculpting. However, it’s crucial to choose a qualified and experienced surgeon to minimize risks and achieve the desired outcomes. As with any cosmetic procedure, thorough research and realistic expectations are key to a successful experience.

“I find there was no proper informed consent in this matter, there was no proper pre-operative care and advice, and no proper post-operative care. All of this meant the care in total fell well below the standard expected of this type of treatment and the lack of care contributed significantly to Demi’s death,” Mr Pollard said, per the Independent.

BBL surgery was introduced in the 1960s by Brazilian surgeon Ivo Pitangi. However, this surgery became popular in the 2010s, when people started idolising figures of celebrities like Nicki Minaj. However, years after, several of them have also admitted to either take step to reverse it or share their regrets about the procedure.
