Why saturday’s dawn became the chosen moment for US-Israel’s high-risk assault on Iran

US and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iran during a high-level leadership meeting in Tehran, triggering retaliatory attacks, global alarm, and fears of a wider Middle East conflict.

Reports are coming in from international sources that on Saturday early morning, the United States and Israel carried out coordinated airstrikes at multiple strategic sites within Iran. The attacks which many speculate could ignite further warfare within the region were reportedly carried out during an assembly of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other top officials inside Tehran.

Spot Strike During Leadership Gathering

U.S. and Israeli officials claim they received credible intelligence just moments before the attack was launched early Saturday morning.

Israeli and U.S. forces targeted key locations in Tehran while Iran’s leader was reportedly in a meeting with other officials. Israeli military sources have confirmed the deaths of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as well as three other top Iranian generals. President Donald Trump via X confirmed the death of Iran’s leader whom he called “the most evil person ever to occupy the office of the presidency in Iran.”

Statement From Trump: “We will aim VERY long statement later.”

Shortly after the airstrikes were reported, Iran reportedly launched multiple drones and missiles at U.S. bases in Iraq as well as neighboring Israel.

Reports are still coming in but we do know that Iran launched attacks at the United Arab Emirates as well. Dubai’s international airport was hit in the attack as well as the Burj Al Arab hotel.

Overnight, residents of Dubai reported explosions in the distance and at least four people have been hurt as a result of the attack.

Khamenei Dead as Fears Rise in Region

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed Saturday morning in a surprise airstrike carried out by Israel and the United States.

Regional leaders are scrambling to contain the spread of chaos and violence as Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks on Israel, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates.

Trump Speaks Out

During a meeting of the U.N. Security Council to discuss the situation in the Middle East, U.S. and Israeli officials addressed the council and briefly spoke about the situation.

In his speech, Trump reiterated previous comments in saying that the U.S. and Israel will not stand for Iran aggressions.

Trump added that Iran has been a dominant source of trouble in the world and that their nation will not allow Iran to develop a nuclear weapon.

Iran’s U.N. ambassador warned the council that “this crime against humanity will not go unpunished.” As U.S. and Israeli officials left the meeting, numerous other countries urged all parties to remain calm and exercise caution. Many nations including France, China, and South Korea have called for all parties to deescalate.

Currently, there is no official line of succession for Khamenei. Iran’s leadership is currently up in the air and we could see many power struggles in the coming days as parties try to gain control of the country.
