#Kolkata: Students have been protesting since Tuesday morning demanding online exams. The agitators are steadfast in realizing the demand by virtually encircling the Vice-Chancellor. Meanwhile, the university authorities want to take the exam offline by crushing the demands of the students.
The students complained, “The university authorities said that the examination will be conducted offline. We didn’t even have classes like that. So under no circumstances are we ready for offline testing. The movement will continue till the demand is realized. ” Basu Roy Chowdhury, vice-chancellor of the university said, Offline exams will be held on Wednesday at the scheduled time.
The protesters continued their protest in front of the Vice Chancellor’s house. The Vice-Chancellor and other professors have been kept under siege. It is alleged that the protesters broke the door of the vice-chancellor and tried to enter the house on Tuesday. University authorities called police on campus to handle the situation. Later, when the situation calmed down, the police left the university campus. On the one hand, the students are adamant in their movement, on the other hand, the university authorities are adamant in offline exams. The students said that the situation will continue till the demand is met. Despite repeated meetings between the university authorities and the protesters, no solution was found.
