
In UP’s Kanpur, Private School Teacher Drills Students’ Hand For Failing To Recite Table Of 2
The state officials have formed a committee to probe this matter.

Kanpur: A private school teacher in Kanpur opted for extreme corporal punishment for a student for failing to recite the number table of 2. According to police sources, the teacher asked the student to recite the number table of 2, which he failed to do following which the primary school teacher drilled his left hand.
On learning about the incident, the parents of the students reached the school where they saw their child had minor bruises on his left hand. This resulted in an uproar on the school campus.
In a complaint to the police, the student said, “The teacher (name withheld) asked me to recite the ‘Table of 2’. As I failed to do so, he drilled my hand. A fellow student standing beside me unplugged the drill immediately.”
The student suffered injuries on the left hand, reports said.
Speaking about the incident, Basic Shiksha Adhikari of Kanpur Nagar, Sujit Kumar Singh said, “A committee has been formed to investigate this entire incident. Block education officers of Prem Nagar and Shastri Nagar will investigate the matter and send a report. Anyone found guilty would face punitive action.”
