Sam Curran is set to miss the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, due to a suspected groin issue. Curran was expected to play for a new franchise, Rajasthan Royals, but Destiny had some other plans.

Rajasthan Royals signed Sam Curran via trade from CSK

Rajasthan Royals bought him via a trade with five-time IPL winners Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, Curran and Ravindra Jadeja were traded by CSK to RR in exchange for Sanju Samson.

Sam Curran’s IPL journey

Before playing for Rajasthan Royals, England all-rounder Sam Curran represented three franchises in his IPL career. In 2019, he began his career for the Punjab Kings. After that, he represented Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2020 and 2021.

In 2023, he became the most expensive player in the league. Punjab Kings acquired him into the squad for INR 18.5 crore ,and he played for them till 2024. However, he was bought by the Chennai Super Kings for INR 2.4 crore for IPL 2025. Rajasthan Royals will be his third squad in the IPL history.

Sam Curran last featured for England in T20 World Cup 2026

The last time Sam Curran played for the England team was in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 against India in the semi-finals matches, where England were defeated by seven runs. The victory helped the Men in Blue to face New Zealand and win the title triumph.
