New Delhi: A viral video went viral on the social media site ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter), which shows that after the game there was a big brawl between Indo-Sri Lankan fans in the stadium. The Indian bowlers once again showcased their class with an outstanding bowling display to defend 214 runs against the defending champions, Sri Lanka, in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 tournament. The Rohit Sharma-led side also ended Sri Lanka’s 13-match unbeaten winning streak in the 50-over format on Tuesday, September 12.

In a low-scoring thriller, India’s Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav again created havoc, as he was absolutely unplayable in the match. The spinner grabbed a four-wicket haul and gave 43 runs in 9.3 overs at an economy rate of 4.52. The 28-year-old spinner took the main wickets of SL batters Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka. Later, he cleaned up the tail by removing Kasun Rajitha and Matheesha Pathirana.

Following the game, A video went viral on the social media site ‘X’ where there was a physical altercation in the stadium, allegedly between Indian and Sri Lankan fans.

Skipper Rohit Sharma led from the front, notching up his third consecutive half-century in the continental showpiece. The right-handed opener also crossed the 10,000 runs mark and he became the second-fastest batter to reach the feat after Virat Kohli. Also, the Indian captain was the top scorer in the India vs Sri Lanka match with a vital knock of 53 runs.

After the match, Rohit Sharma said “It was a good game. For us also to play a game like that under pressure. Challenged a lot of aspects of our game. We definitely want to play on pitches like to see what we can achieve. [Hardik] He’s worked hard on his bowling over the last couple of years, and it’s pleasing to see how he bowled that spell. Not an easy target to defend. The pitch got slightly better towards the end so we had to hold our nerve and bowl consistently.

The Indian cricket team reached their 10th final in the Asia Cup after having clinched victories over Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super Fours stages. Dasun Shanaka-led Sri Lanka and Babar Azam-led Pakistan will meet in a virtual semi-final at the Premadasa Stadium on 14 September. The winner of that match will take on India for the Asia Cup 2023 trophy on 17 September.
