IMD weather update
New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain, thunderstorms and strong winds across large parts of India between August 25 and 30As per the weather department, several states are also likely to witness isolated heavy to very heavy rainfallIt is important to note that the weather activity is expected to affect the northwestern, central, eastern, northeastern, western and southern parts of the country.

Uttar Pradesh:
- Heavy rainfall is likely in western Uttar Pradesh, while eastern Uttar Pradesh may experience fairly widespread to widespread rainfall from August 25 to 27.
- Heavy rainfall is expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh on August 25 and 26.
- Four people were killed in rain-related incidents across 65 cities in Uttar Pradesh on Monday.
- In Mathura, heavy rainfall flooded roads and residential areas.
- The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain across the state today as well.
Rajasthan
- In eastern Rajasthan, thunderstorms and lightning are likely at isolated places from August 24 to 26.
- In Hindaun City market in Karauli, traders were forced to shut their shops after waterlogging.
Madhya Pradesh
- In western Madhya Pradesh, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is expected from August 25 to 26,
- Isolated rainfall is also expected from August 27 to 30.
- Eastern Madhya Pradesh is likely to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall from August 25 to 29, with isolated rainfall on August 30.
- Thunderstorms and lightning are likely in both regions from August 25 to 28.
- Heavy rainfall is expected in western Madhya Pradesh on August 27 and in eastern Madhya Pradesh from August 27 to 30.
- Isolated very heavy rainfall is also possible in both regions on August 25 and 26.
Chhattisgarh
- Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is expected across Chhattisgarh from August 25 to 30.
- Thunderstorms and lightning are likely on August 25 and 26.
- Heavy rainfall is expected from August 26 to 28.
West Bengal
- Gangetic West Bengal is likely to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall from August 25 to 30.
- During this period, strong winds of 30–40 kmph are expected, with gusts reaching up to 50 kmph.
- Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to experience widespread rainfall from August 25 to 30, with heavy rainfall possible on August 25.
Jharkhand
- Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is expected across Jharkhand from August 25 to 30.
- Strong winds of 30–40 kmph are likely from August 25 to 27, with gusts reaching up to 50 kmph.
- Heavy rainfall is expected from August 25 to 28.
Bihar
- Bihar is likely to experience fairly widespread to widespread rainfall on August 25 and 26, followed by isolated rainfall from August 27 to 30.
- Strong winds of 30–40 kmph are expected from August 25 to 30, with gusts reaching up to 50 kmph.
- Heavy rainfall is likely from August 25 to 27.
Maharashtra
- Konkan and Goa are likely to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall from August 25 to 30.
- Central Maharashtra is expected to receive fairly widespread rainfall on August 25, followed by isolated or scattered rainfall from August 26 to 30.
- Heavy rainfall is expected on August 25 and 26.
- Marathwada may receive isolated or scattered rainfall on August 25 and again from August 26 to 30.
- Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely in Marathwada on August 25.
Delhi-NCR:
The rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds, brought respite from the humidity but left several roads, markets and residential stretches waterlogged, while air traffic was also affected, with at least 15 flights diverted, scores of others delayed and some cancelled at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).
Janakpuri and Ayanagar recorded the highest rainfall at 70 mm and 69 mm, respectively, during the intense spell, the India Meteorological Department said.
Gurugram was also inundated after around an hour of heavy rainfall, with waterlogging reported from several parts of the city and traffic movement slowing on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway and key roads.
The downpour caused waterlogging in Narsinghpur, Hero Honda Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, IFFCO Chowk and several areas of old GurugramVehicles were stuck around a flooded Rajiv Chowk, while school buses and ambulances were stranded on Sohna Road.
