The old Taapsee Pannu-Kangana Ranaut controversy has come back into focus after Taapsee spoke about their equation in a recent interviewThe actress said that despite their public differences over the years, she has never actually met Kangana, either before or after their controversy. Her comments soon caught Kangana’s attention, with the actor-politician responding strongly on social media and accusing Taapsee of making fun of her upbringing and parents.

During her conversation with India Today, Taapsee was asked whether she and Kangana had resolved their differencesThe actress said they had never met personally. “I haven’t met herI didn’t meet her before when these so-called issues startedI haven’t met her now as wellMy opinion on her is reflective of my upbringing and my way of talking, my way of perceiving things and hers… she stands by hers. So, I think that’s enough for everybody to look and decide who comes from where.”

Kangana accused Taapsee of “crossing all limits” and said the actress had shamelessly mocked her upbringingIn her Instagram Story, she wrote: “One Sasti copy is out and about with her upcoming B grade film but as usual only headline point with the media is Kangana Ranaut, but today she crossed all limits shamelessly ridiculing my upbringing / parents, I think all parents do their best and I never bring any parents in to any argument, but today I also want to ask her parents why they couldn’t birth someone original like my parents did? Why a cheap Sasti copy? Feel sorry for your efforts.”
How the Taapsee-Kangana controversy started
Taapsee and Kangana became part of a public controversy in 2019Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chandel had accused Taapsee of copying Kangana and called her a “sasti copy”. The comments came after Taapsee praised the trailer of Judgementall Hai Kya without specifically mentioning KanganaThe incident led to a series of exchanges between the two sidesTaapsee later said that she did not want to get involved in a mudslinging match.
The controversy resurfaced in 2020 during the debate around nepotism and opportunities for outsiders in BollywoodKangana referred to Taapsee and Swara Bhasker as “B-grade actresses” and “needy outsiders”.
Taapsee responded by saying that outsiders should not be pitted against each other and that the focus should instead be on improving the system within the film industryDespite their public exchanges, Taapsee has maintained that she never personally had a fight with Kangana.
