Actor and endurance athlete Mr Milind Soman today flagged off the inaugural ‘FIT Gurugram’ Marathon, organised by Fortis Hospital, Gurugram, at Cyber Hub. Bringing together over 6,000 participants, the event saw residents, doctors, caregivers, families, and fitness enthusiasts take to the streets in a celebration of fitness and community spiritMilind Soman also led the 10 km run, encouraging participants to make physical activity a part of everyday life.
The marathon featured 3 km, 5 km, 10 km, and 21.1 km half-marathon categories, offering experienced runners and first-time participants an opportunity to take partOver 500 doctors and caregivers and 250 children supported by NGOs joined working professionals, corporate teams, and athletes, reflecting the event’s emphasis on inclusive participation.
Reinforcing Fortis Hospital Gurugram’s core ethos as a leading healthcare provider, the event boasted exceptional medical readiness and safety protocolsThe route was equipped with six designated medical points and stationed ambulances, alongside top-notch emergency support placed every few kilometers to ensure immediate assistance and comprehensive care for all runnersContinuous on-ground medical support, hydration stations, and expert medical teams safeguarded runners throughout the eventEvery participant received a finisher’s medal on completing their respective race, recognising their effort and commitment to fitness.
Adding to the competitive spirit, the marathon offered a total cash prize pool of Rs2 lakhs across the half-marathon and 10 km categories, with separate awards for men and women in the Open and Above-50 age groupsHalf-marathon winners in each category received Rs15,000, while the first and second runners-up received Rs10,000 and Rs5,000, respectively, led by men’s champion Mohan (01:12:31) and women’s champion Sanjana Singh (01:23:48)Winners in the 10 km categories received Rs11,000, with Rs5,500 and Rs3,500 awarded to the first and second runners-up, respectively, highlighted by top finishes from Aman Kumar (00:33:17) and Swati (00:46:28)Meanwhile, the 5 km category saw electrifying performances from Arshlan Khan (00:16:01) and Myra Singh (00:23:49), who clocked the fastest times in the men’s and women’s fields respectively.
