Bihar Floods: Southwest monsoon rains have created havoc in Bihar as several rivers swell and flow near the danger markThe water level of the Ganga River at Gandhi Ghat in Patna has crossed the danger mark by 1.93 metres, following which the state’s Water Resources Department has issued a warning to district authorities to intensify flood preparedness measuresThe holy river breached ‘highest flood mark’ and its water level is rising by 10 cm in four hours on Saturday, as per the official bulletin.
The situation could get worse in the coming days as WRD has forecast a continued rise in the river’s water level“The forecast is that the Ganga water level at Gandhi Ghat is likely to rise further to 50.62 cm by 8 am on SundayPeople have been advised to exercise caution,” it said.
