The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Smriti Mandhana as the full-time captain of the Indian women’s cricket team in white-ball cricketThe experienced opener will now lead India across both ODIs and T20Is as the team enters a new phase.
Mandhana has been one of the biggest names in Indian women’s cricket since making her international debut in 2013She has played an important role in the team’s growth across formats and has also built a strong reputation as a leader in domestic and franchise cricket.

The 29-year-old has already captained India on several occasionsBefore receiving the full-time role, Mandhana had led the national side in 18 T20Is and four ODIs.
Her recent leadership success also came in the Women’s Premier League, where she guided Royal Challengers Bengaluru to the title in 2024 and 2026Her experience of handling a franchise team is expected to help her as she takes charge of the Indian side.
