President Droupadi Murmu honoured the late legendary actor Dharmendra with the Padma Vibhushan for his immense contribution to the field of Arts. Padma Vibhushan is the second-highest civilian award, recognising “exceptional and distinguished service”. BJP MP and actress Hema Malini received the prestigious honour on behalf of her late husband at the ceremony. She was all emotional while accepting the award.
As soon as Hema Malini’s name was announced, she was seen greeting everyone with folded hands. With tears in her eyes, she walked up to the stage and received the honour.
Not only Hema, but her daughter Ahana Deol also accompanied her, was also seen crying uncontrollably as she remembered her father.

Speaking to Hindustan Times ahead of the ceremony, Hema Malini opened up about what the honour means to the family following Dharmendra’s passing. Calling it an emotional moment, she said, “Ahana is with me, while Esha wanted to come but couldn’t make it. The entire family is happy. Sunny, Bobby — everyone knows about it, and it’s a proud moment for all of us.”
