Kolkata, 17th July 2026 : Utkala, the cultural wing of Sri Jagannath Temple, Kidderpore, inaugurated the Odisha Festival 2026 today at Northern Park, Bhawanipore. The inauguration marked the beginning of a 7-day long vibrant celebration showcasing the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Odisha.
The programme also featured the presentation of the Utkala Samman to Prof. P. K. Mishra honouring him for his invaluable contributions. This was followed by captivating Kathak and Odissi dance performances by the Soul 2 Sole Academy, which enthralled the audience with their grace and artistic excellence.
The festival brought the vibrant spirit of Odisha alive through mesmerizing cultural performances that offered visitors an unforgettable experience while creating a profound spiritual connection with Lord Jagannath. Organised by Utkala, the cultural wing of Sri Jagannath Temple, Kidderpore, the event celebrated Odisha’s rich traditions, art, music and devotion, drawing devotees, cultural enthusiasts and visitors together in an atmosphere of faith, unity and cultural pride.
Shri Chandrasekhar Panigrahi, President, Shri Jagannath Seva Samiti, Kidderpore; Shri Guru Prasad Pattnaik, President of Utkala; Shri Parshuram Bisoyi, Vice President, Shri Jagannath Seva Samiti Kidderpore Jagannath Temple; Shri Pramod Kumar Jena, Secretary, Shri Jagannath Seva Samiti, Kidderpore Jagannath Temple; Shri Saroj Mallik, Secretary, Utkala and temple sevayats were present on this occasion.
The Odisha Festival stood as a testament to the richness of the region’s culture, merging art, music, and spirituality in a harmonious tribute to Lord Jagannath.
The 2nd day of Odisha Festival celebration (18th July) will include dance competition, conducted by Mayur Lalit Dance Academy and Dance & Drama programme (Ramayana) by Srijan Chatterjee Troupe.
