What Is Squawk 7500?
Squawk 7500 is an internationally recognised aircraft transponder code used to indicate unlawful interference, including a hijacking.
Aircraft transponders send codes that help air traffic controllers identify and track planesThese codes use digits from zero to seven.
The code 7500 is specifically associated with a hijack or an unlawful seizure of an aircraftWhen air traffic control detects this code, it can alert the relevant authorities and trigger security procedures.
However, the reported activation of the code alone does not confirm that a hijacking has taken placeAuthorities need to verify the circumstances before the exact nature of an incident can be established.
