The actor and former MP has warned against the circulation of material that he says is false, defamatory or unverifiedThe move comes after renewed attention on his relationship with Sunita and reports involving actor Komal Rani SwarnkarAccording to the notice issued on his behalf, Govinda could seek damages of up to Rs 100 crore against those responsible for spreading such content.

The notice cautions media organisations, digital platforms, social media users and content creators against creating or sharing material that is allegedly false, malicious, fabricated, defamatory or unverifiedIt specifically mentions photographs, videos and audio recordings along with morphed images, deepfakes and other content created or manipulated using artificial intelligence.

According to details shared by Govinda’s team, the actor has not given anyone permission to create or alter his voice, photographs, identity or likeness using AI or other digital technologyThe notice also covers the commercial use of such material.

Rs 100 crore damages mentioned in notice

The legal warning comes amid reports about Govinda’s alleged court marriage with Komal Rani Swarnkar and speculation surrounding his relationship with Sunita AhujaThe notice reportedly states that Govinda believes some of the claims could be part of an intentional effort to damage his reputation and cause him mental and social distress.

His team has indicated that the actor may explore both civil and criminal remedies under provisions connected with defamation, privacy violations, identity misuse and cybercrimeThe notice refers to the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.

It also warns that legal proceedings could include requests for court orders involving the assets and financial accounts of people found responsible along with other remedies available under law.
