‘You have 48 hours’: CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka gives ultimatum to Rajasthan education minister Madan Dilawar over attack

New Delhi: A Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader on Tuesday accused the BJP government in West Bengal of resorting to intimidation and threats to gag the CJP’s voiceCJP Co-Convenor Asutosh Ranka criticized authorities for not taking action against all those involved in an alleged brutal fatal attack on an elderly man in Bankura district, targeted due to his son’s association with the outfitRanka told reporters that local police have yet to arrest all named individuals despite the victim’s family lodging an official FIR.

Recounting the incident, Ranka stated that despite police being informed, attackers continued vandalizing vehicle windows, smashing phones, assaulting a woman, tearing his shirt, fracturing a team member’s hand, and throwing stonesDirecting his statement at Madan Dilawar, Ranka issued a strict 48-hour ultimatum for action.

Speaking to reporters on the road before Press Club Kolkata, Ranka said, “We have visited the youth and his mother at their Bankura home in Indas and stand by the family by crowdfunding.”

“The attack on a youth who wanted to reform school in his locality and there was a brutal assault on his father by local BJP men who were allegedly carrying firearms, knives and crowbars and we want the contents of the inquest on the body made known to us,” he said.

“He only wanted to improve his local primary school infrastructure for the school thik karo campaign,” Ranka said.

Accusing the BJP of intimidating and threatening organisers, he said, “The local BJP MLA in Bowbazar in the city today pressurised Indian Association authority not to allow the CJP to hold a meeting, while the Press Club Kolkata also cited a technical problemWe don’t understand what happenedWe cannot be threatened or intimidated this way,” he asserted.

“BJP is trying to gag the voice of CJP in Bengal,” Ranka said, adding that every political party which believes in democracy should extend support to our school clean-up campaign and clean up the education system.

To a question, he said, “CJP will step up the movement if the demands for arrests are not made in 10 days and will submit deputation to Bankura DM and gherao the office.”
