SHAPE SUMMIT 2026 Brings Global Cardiology Experts Together in Kolkata to Advance the Future of Structural Heart Care

: Kolkata witnessed a landmark convergence of leading cardiovascular experts at the Structural Heart and Access Precision Excellence (SHAPE) Summit 2026, a premier academic forum dedicated to advancing complex, minimally invasive cardiac interventions. Organized under the leadership of Course Director, Dr. Dilip Kumar, who is also the Director & Senior Consultant, Cardiology at Manipal Hospital EM Bypass, the summit brought together renowned national and international experts to deliberate on the latest advancements in structural heart care.

The scientific programme focused on emerging techniques and innovations in complex cardiac procedures, including Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) and Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (TEER), with discussions around advanced systems such as MitraClip and MyClip. The summit aimed to strengthen clinical knowledge, encourage collaboration, and enhance access to precision-driven cardiac care.

A key highlight of the summit was the prestigious Dr. K. B. Bakshi Oration, delivered by eminent cardiologist Dr. Prathap Kumar N. N., Chairman and Managing Director, Chief Interventional Cardiologist, Meditrina Group of Hospitals, Kerala. His insightful address focused on the evolving landscape of structural heart interventions, the importance of advanced clinical expertise, and the role of patient-centric approaches in improving outcomes in complex cardiac procedures.

The summit witnessed participation from several distinguished cardiology experts, including Dr. Girish Navasundi, Cardiologist, Apollo Hospitals, Bannerghatta Road, Bengaluru; Prof. Dr. Monotosh Panja, Senior Consultant – Cardiologist, Manipal Hospital Dhakuria; and Prof. Dr. Amal Kr. Khan, Cardiologist at the Analogy Superspeciality Wing of Burdwan Medical College and Hospital and Consultant – Cardiology, Manipal Hospital Broadway, among other leading specialists from across the country.

Adding a global dimension to the academic exchange, internationally acclaimed experts Dr. Ramesh Daggubati, Associate Chief of Cardiology and Director of Structural Heart Disease, West Virginia University School of Medicine and (Prof.) Dr. Rabindra Nath Chakraborty, Advisor & Sr Consultant, Cardiology, Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass,  from the United States shared their expertise on advanced cardiovascular interventions, including large-bore vascular access techniques and Impella-supported high-risk cardiac procedures virtually.
