BITS Pilani, an institution of eminence, has consistently upheld the principle that financial barriers should never come in the way of
exceptional talent. This enduring commitment has shaped a strong institutional
culture of scholarshipdriven support, ensuring equitable access for all deserving
students. In the last year alone, the institute disbursed ₹132 crore in merit and
meritcumneed scholarships, enabling one in four students across its campuses to
receive financial assistance.
Starting in AY 2026–27, BITS Pilani will take a landmark step in its 60-year journey
by introducing tuition-blind admissions for the top 500 BITSAT rankers. Eligible
candidates with an annual family income of up to ₹20 lakh will receive a full tuition
scholarship for all four years, subject to maintaining a minimum CGPA of 7.5 at their
respective campuses. This is not a scholarship students must apply for after joining;
rather, it is an assurance built into the admission offer, ensuring that top performers
can choose BITS based on aspiration and opportunity, not affordability.
This initiative is enabled by growing alumni support and sustained institutional
investment. Over the coming years, BITS intends to expand this coverage
progressively, with the long-term goal of moving towards tuition blind admissions for
all.
Commenting on the announcement, Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice Chancellor, BITS
Pilani, said, “We have invested heavily in scholarships for years, but tuition blind
admissions for our top 500 BITSAT rankers is a defining step. If you have the talent,
money should not come in the way. We will keep expanding this year on year until
we can make BITS fully tuition blind for every admission.”
