Nag Ashwin has shared an update on the much-awaited sequel to Kalki 2898 ADThe filmmaker revealed that only around 10 days of shooting have been completed so far and said the next schedule will begin once Prabhas is available. Kalki 2898 AD, which released in 2024, became one of the biggest Indian films of the yearThe sci-fi drama featured Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in key rolesThe sequel recently went on floors, but Nag Ashwin says the shoot is still in its early stages.

At a promotional event for Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming film I’m Game in Hyderabad, Nag Ashwin was asked about the progress of Kalki 2898 AD 2. Anchor Suma reminded the director about his earlier comment that the “planets have to align” before he could begin shooting the sequelResponding to her, Nag Ashwin said, “Aa planets anni align aipoyi oka round tirigeySo, ipudu malli inkoka round tirigi align ainapudu start chestam (The planets have aligned and even taken a roundSo, we will begin shooting again when they align and can take another round).”
When asked how much of the film had been shot so far, he said, “Not muchWe shot for only about 10 daysOnce Prabhas garu is free, we will shoot in a long stretch.”
The director’s comments suggest that the team is waiting for Prabhas to become available before moving ahead with an extended shooting schedule.
