Rahul Gandhi To Contest From Raebareli, Priyanka Gandhi Will NOT Fight Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Sources

New Delhi: The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 are underway and this year, the General Elections are being conducted in a total of seven phases, spanning across almost two months; the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Results will be announced on June 4, 2024. Ahead of the LS Polls 2024 Third Phase on May 7, sources close to the Indian National Congress (INC) have revealed that Rahul Gandhi may be contesting from Raebareli and Priyanka Gandhi will not be fighting the Lok Sabha Elections this year. It must be noted that as of now, this news has not been confirmed by the party in an official manner.

Rahul Gandhi May Contest From Raebareli

There are a lot of speculations regarding the politician who will contest from Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh from the Indian National Congress (INC). While there were initial reports of Priyanka Gandhi contesting the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, our sources have now revealed thar Priyanka Gandhi will not stand for the upcoming polls and it is Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi, who may stand from Raebareli. Raebareli is the seat of the Party President usually and so, this may be the reason why Rahul Gandhi will be standing from this constituency instead of Amethi.

Priyanka Gandhi To NOT Contest Lok Sabha Elections 2024?

Another piece of information revealed by the sources is that Priyanka Gandhi will not be contesting the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. There are reports that instead of Amethi, Rahul Gandhi will be contesting from Raebareli and as far as Wayanad is concerned, if he wins at Wayanad in Karnataka, he will forego his seat for his sister, Priyanka Gandhi.

A couple of months ago, Sonia Gandhi announced that she will not be contesting from Raebareli in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 because of her age and health issues; in a statement in Hindi, she said, “I am proud to say that whatever I am today, I am because of you and I have always done my best to honour your trust. Now on account of health and age issues, I will not contest the next Lok Sabha election.”

It must be noted that Raebareli and Amethi, both have been the strongest seats for Congress since the first General Election of India. Since 2004, Sonia Gandhi has contested from Raebareli and has also won; Indira Gandhi has also won from this constituency in her time.
