Swati Maliwal’s Fresh Allegation Against APP; ‘Pressure Within Party To Speak Dirty, Leak My Personal Photos’

New Delhi: AAP Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal has raised concerns about her party, alleging pressure to defame her. In a recent post, Maliwal disclosed receiving a call from a “senior leader” within the party, to speak “dirty things” against her and and that the party is plotting to leak her “personal photos”. The situation escalated as she responded to CM Arvind Kejriwal’s call for a fair investigation and justice. Former Delhi Commission for Women chief Maliwal had alleged being assaulted at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence by his aide Bibhav Kumar on May 13, currently under investigation by Delhi Police.

Maliwal alleged on X that everyone in the party was being pressured to speak out against her and that the party was threatening anyone who supported her. Her post in Hindi read in translation, “Yesterday, I received a call from the party’s senior leader. He told me about the immense pressure on everyone to speak negatively about me, and to break me by leaking my personal photos. It is being said that whoever supports me will be expelled from the party.”

“Someone has been assigned the duty of holding press conferences, while someone else has been assigned the task of tweeting. Someone’s responsibility is to call volunteers in America and obtain something against me. Some beat reporters close to the accused must fabricate some fake sting operations,” the tweet said.

She further mentioned that the party may assemble an army of thousands, but she will face it alone because the truth is with her. “I am not angry with them; the accused is a very powerful man. Even the biggest leaders are afraid of him. No one has the courage to take a stand against him. I don’t expect anything from anyone. I feel sad that the woman minister of Delhi is smilingly maligning the character of an old female colleague of the party,” she added.

Maliwal dismisses kejriwal’s call for fair probe

Responding to Kejriwal’s comment on fair investigation into the matter, Maliwal took to social media and expressed that she does not believe “one bit” of what the chief minister has said.

“After unleashing the entire army of leaders and volunteers at me, calling me a BJP agent, assassinating my character, leaking edited videos, victim shaming me, roaming around with the accused, letting him re enter the crime scene and tamper evidences and protesting in favour of the accused, the Chief Minister, in whose drawing room I was beaten up, has finally said that he wants free and fair investigation in the matter. Irony died a thousand deaths. I don’t buy this one bit,” the AAP MP wrote on X.

Meanwhile, Bibhav Kumar was brought back from Mumbai by Delhi Police on Wednesday. Kumar, who had been taken to Mumbai for data recovery from his phone suspected to have been formatted, remains in police custody till Thursday for further investigation.

Authorities suspect Kumar may have formatted his phone after transferring data to another device in Mumbai. His phone, laptop, and CCTV recordings from Kejriwal’s residence are undergoing forensic examination.
